I went for a quick drive-by this afternoon and was over the moon when I saw our bricks had been delivered as promised! By this time Friday, the "brickies" should well and truly be on there way in getting them up and getting our place weather-proof!
Plantation have also erected a temporary fence around our site - not sure why they have done this as I haven't seen any other house with this sort of temporary fencing up before - but I am sure there is a reason for it. Luckily it doesn't keep me out as it's not locked in any way.
It was also pleasing to see that they finally emptied our rubbish skip - it's quite amazing the things that I have witnessed in this rubbish skip. Of course there is all the usual builder's rubble and offcuts but to see two full size couches and general household rubbish waste in our skip (kindly donated by the quality local neighbourhood we appear to be building in) was certainly an interesting sight!

What's with the fence?? |
That's good how they put up the temporary fencing so no one can go in and damage your house (or take photos :))
ReplyDeleteYour house seems pretty big. Looks like around 28m2?
It's just odd because no other house in the street has had temporary fencing.....but can still get in :) The house is around 320m2 = 33 squares.
DeleteThat's one big house! We also going to build with Plantation. Do you mind if we PM you for some query. It is also our first time building so a lot of things to learn from others.
ReplyDeleteNo problems if you want to PM me about anything :)
DeleteHow do I do that in here? Sorry still a newbie on this page
ReplyDeleteI've got no idea sorry.....if you've got any questions, happy for you to comment on the blog in the meantime :)
DeleteNo worries. Once you signed the contract was there any unexpected cost came up along the way? Was there anything you think you would do differently? e.g higher ceiling
DeleteNo unexpected costs post-contract (so far). One change we did make post-contract was square-set plastering to our living areas. Doing this post-contract cost us the $500 admin fee.....but I really wanted them :)
