Let there be lights!!

Over the weekend, we paid a visit to Lighting Illusions at Macgregor to finalise our lighting selections. We had previously obtained a quote in May, however needed to refresh memories and put down our deposit. Not much has changed since our original quote - the only exceptions were the ceiling fans which, although they look identical, now have LED lights in them as well :)

In a nutshell, we have gone with:

  • LED Downlights throughout the main living areas
  • 3 Pendant lights over the kitchen island bench
  • Ceiling fans with LED lights in the bedrooms
  • Exhaust/Fan/Heat combos in each bathroom
  • Oyster lights in TV Area, Laundry & Ensuite toilet
  • Oyster light outside the Laundry & under the Porch
  • 2 Up/Down Charcoal LED lights either side of our front porch
  • Slimline Fluro in the Walk-in-Robe and Pantry
  • Basic Fluro in the Garage

I have posted photos below of each of our selections (with the exception of the Up/Down lights at the front as they are a special order item):

  1. How much for those kitchen pendant? Is it easy to go over the $3000 electrical allowance?

    1. The pendant lights were only around $40 each from memory. We spent around $4,500 on our electrical plan - most of that cost is from doing down lights throughout instead of the one standard batten fix per room so if you are thinking of doing the same, I would allow at least $4,000

    2. Hi, is the $4500 on your electrical plan just the supply of the lights? or is that price also includes the installation, wiring and switches? am i right in saying that its $75 for new light point and $23 to install a customer supplied light? i've marked up where i want my lights on the plans and did a quick calculation and it seems like i'll be way over the $4500. our electrical meeting is next week and i hoping i got the calcs wrong!

    3. Our total cost with YHC was $4,716 - this was for the wiring and installation of additional light & electrical points, powerpoint and light switch upgrades & NBN wiring package. Our actual light fittings cost an addition $3,500 on top of the $4,500 from YHC - so all up for our "electrics" will be around $8,000. Hope that clarifies.
