Finally, some movement!

After what has been a very frustrating week of seemingly little no progress, a visit to the house this afternoon produced some pleasing signs of progress.

The lining of the eaves has started (around 50% complete), our real front door has been fixed, all the skirtings & architraves have been fixed in place, internal doors hung and the cabinetry for the kitchen (& pantry), bathroom, powder room & ensuite has all been installed (pending bench tops).

The only thing left to happen to complete the next stage of works is for the tiling to the wet areas (bathrooms & laundry) to be completed. Given the tiles are on-site and the waterproofing is nearly complete, I don't see this being too far away.

We were lucky to find an open window this afternoon so here are some of the latest photos - enjoy!

  2. Hi. Thanks for posting your experiences on this blog, we have just started the process with Plantation and we are finding it's really helping us. Do you mind me asking how much the shower niche was? We have asked them to put one in but getting a cost off them before our contract appointment is proving difficult.

    1. Hi Ryan, glad you are finding this informative and hope it helps. This is out first time building so knew NOTHING and there have been a couple of surprises along the way. The niche in the ensuite cost $332 for a "300mm high x 1500mm wide x 90mm deep tiled niche to Ensuite shower recede located approx 1200mm above floor level". We also paid around an extra $50 in laying fees as we decided to tile it in a different tile as well to make it "stand out:. Hope this helps.
