HANDOVER DATE CONFIRMED!!!!!!

A very quick update to let everyone know that Plantation have confirmed our handover date for Thursday 23 January 2014 at 10am!!

We are now in a mad rush to get everything organised post-handover so that we can move in as quickly as possible, as we need to organise the installation of our timber floors, carpet and kitchen appliances as well as the laying of our driveway, the tiling of our alfresco area and the completion of our landscaping.

So far our flooring is booked for 28-30 Jan, the driveway 28-29 Jan and the kitchen appliances on 31 Jan - and provided everything goes as planned that week, we will be moving in on Saturday 1 February!!

From Plantation's side, there is not much left to do now:

  • Exterior painting / staining
  • Interior patch & paint
  • Staining of pantry & front doors
  • Ensuite mirror & shower screen
  • Plumbing fit off in main bathroom & powder room
  • Final house & site clean
Once we have had handover, I will post up some more photos :)

  1. Good luck with the handover guys!! This post touches on something that is causing us a headache at the moment and your advice would be appreciated. We are also wanting to provide our own appliances and flooring after handover as we don't want the dodgy Technica appliances that come as standard. Due to the cost of this we would need to fund it via the mortgage but our mortgage broker seems to think this will be difficult. Is this how you funded it and if so did you have any problems? Hope you don't mind me asking?!?!?

    1. Hi Ryan, there should be no headache with doing things after handover (ie. outside of your building contract with the builder). We financed directly through CBA (no broker - don't see the point of a middle man........and they are selling the exact same product at the same price!!) and all I have to do is provide my invoices and they will reimburse me (so you do need to have the ability to pay upfront, whether that be on a credit card or something, before the Bank reimburses you....). If you have any issues, let me know and I will give you the details of a good lender. Thanks, Ben.
