And so it begins...

Today was the day we have been longing for.....finally construction is underway, with the block being "cut and filled" earlier today.

As the photos below show, we now have a nice level pad for a house to be built upon and there were a few pleasant surprises that came out of the day.

Firstly, no rock was hit! Well not any that cost us any extra money. There is some shale at the front of the cut but the standard equipment was able to break it very easily. And although we are not out of the woods yet, from discussions with our Site Supervisor, he believes the concrete contractors should be fine and the plumbers "should be ok" - but that will depend on where they have to run the pipes etc. So time will tell....

Secondly, no retaining walls required!!!! Well not yet anyway. Our Site Supervisor is happy to keep going without us needing to do any retaining walls now and then we can figure it out once we get the landscapers in after handover.

All going well, we will have a slab poured next Monday and the frame will be mostly up by the end of next week. It will be a good test to see how accurate our Site Supervisor's predictions are.
