More flooring done & rangehood installed!

I was very happy to get a phone call yesterday from Harry, our flooring man, to let me know he was going to come and continue work at our place on Monday. After a solid 6 hours, we now have timber floors from the Entry through to the Living Area (excluding Kitchen). He is coming back tomorrow to finish the flooring and will then spend Wednesday finishing off the quadding around the skirts.

We also managed to install our rangehood today - which took much longer than anticipated as the installation measurements in the instruction manual were incorrect. But with some initial help from my Dad and some afternoon assistance from my father-in-law, the rangehood was conquered and it looks AMAZING!

I haven't managed to grout the Alfresco area as yet as the flooring man has been using it as his "prep" area - no hurry though - I will be endeavouring to finish next Sunday.

Tomorrow, the fun begins with the driveway being boxed up and poured and our TV Antenna is being installed.

  1. Congrats. The kitchen and floor looks amazing. Really nice colour selections. Do you mind if I ask how much the glossed overhead cabinets cost to upgrade? This is also a feature we're considering.

    1. Thanks - we are very pleased with how it has all come together! The kitchen upgrades came as a package - 40mm island bench top, drawers to the side of the cooker and the gloss cabinets - was $2,000 in total. Initially we weren't going to go with the gloss cabinets and I think that changed the price by approx $700 so that would be roughly what they would be on their own. I must say, I am extremely glad that we went with the gloss cabinets!

    2. Plantation also offer the Laminex "Silk Finish" as a standard item. They're not as glossy as the ones pictured but are still a lovely option if you don't want to spend extra. We have gone with the silk finish as we spent lots of upgrade pennies in other areas. :)

    3. That is correct - however the colour we liked (Stipple Seal) didn't come in the "silk" finish hence we didn't have much of a choice :)

    1. Hi Joanie, we organised our flooring externally through Carpet Call. Even though they are the same company Plantation used, we saved approx $5,000 by getting our carpet and timber done externally. They also did the quadding. Thanks Ben.
